The project is a proposal to introduce a modular mass housing concept to gradually transform the informal settlement located within the university campus into a residential community that retains shared public space and potential amenity for commercial activity.

A rigid structural and utilities framework delineates separate unit "lots" for the community. It is to be filled-in by a flexible kit of modular parts that can be tailored to diverse household sizes and requirements.

Providing a sampling of details for the modular kit of parts showing potential applications of the concept to operable, movable furniture; wall, floor and ceiling modules; and external installations.

OPERAHAUS consists of a design concept for a mass housing development which enabled its residents with operable living spaces and modular furniture. A static steel structure with an infrastructure of utilities accommodates a flexible kit of interior and movable modules that can be purposed for residential, commercial, or communal use, and updated, components repaired and interchanged, in the course of time to weather change and maximize the building's usable lifespan.
